Small New Build Garden

The Client

A lively retired couple, having moved into a brand new property, with a very compact garden in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire.

The Challenge

for Quercus Garden Design was to transform a dull triangle of grass, with a shed plonked in it, into an attractive & interesting extension to the properties living space

The Solution

The interesting geometry of the house lent itself to a design set at 45°.  This also had the effect of broadening the garden & setting users on a “journey” around this relatively small space.

Modern, low maintenance porcelain paving was used for the two new terraces.  The smaller catches the last of the sun & has become the place to lounge late into the evening.  With planting on one side & trellis panels on two this terrace has a secluded, cosy feel.

It’s fair to say our client, who is totally in love with her new garden has made it her own & proudly shared two videos of her new outdoor haven.
