Composite Deck Garden
The Client
A 40 something Executive & his family, whose new build property on the edge of Harlow, Essex occupies a peaceful location at the very end of a cul-de-sac & benefits from its elevated position overlooking open fields
The Challenge
to create “an enclosed serene escape…..to entertain small gatherings……..& watch the wildlife”. Our design sought to use modern materials (in keeping with the property), at the same time maintaining the view & sympathetically blending with the surroundings using naturalistic planting.
The Solution
We started by putting a modern spin on the old ha-ha wall to open up the vista beyond the garden. Renovating & planting the brook on the garden’s lower boundary & building a viewing deck from Millboard composite decking would complete this element.
A second deck, connected by boardwalks through the planting & incorporating the client’s pavilion provides a cosy entertaining space. Artificial lawn, basalt plank paving & additional planting complete this lovely, low-maintenance outdoor space.
This garden featured in the 2017 TV series, The Home Game, with Linda Barker – where it proved that well designed & built gardens truly do add value.
